Schedule our fertilization service for your property located in or around Louisville, KY or Jeffersonville, IN.
Our fertilization program feeds your lawn the correct amount of nutrients at the correct times, creating the perfect conditions for a thriving lawn.
Most, if not all, of the lawns in the Louisville, KY and Jeffersonville, IN areas have cool-season grass types. This means that our lawns are at their strongest in the cooler fall and spring weather. This also means that the summer season is a little bit more stressful for our grass. Enrolling in a fertilization program will feed your lawn the exact amount of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium it needs at exactly the right time. We also use a balance of both granular and liquid fertilizer throughout our program, depending on which application is best for that time of the year.
At Lawn Works, we offer a 6-step fertilization program for properties located in the Louisville, KY and Jeffersonville, IN areas. You can trust our experts to build you a fertilization schedule that works best for your cool-season grass type.
What does it mean to have cool-season grass?
If your property is in Southern Indiana or Northern Kentucky, you can probably bet that you have cool-season grass. This means that your lawn does its best when the soil temperature is in the 65-80 degrees Fahrenheit temperature range. Spring and fall are ideal conditions for cool-season grass, and it also easily handles moderate summer temperatures. However, when the temperature starts to rise from June until August, your cool-season grass might need some extra help to get it through the summer heat.
Our program is tailored to cater to the specific needs of cool-season grass types. We know exactly when to feed your lawn certain nutrients so that it can thrive and stay green, even in the hot summer months. Some common cool-season grass types in our area include:
- Kentucky Bluegrass
- Tall Fescue
- Perennial Ryegrass
Granular VS Liquid Fertilizer Treatments
Our 6-step program switches between using granular and liquid fertilizer treatments, depending on the time of the year. We do this because each type has its own benefits that your grass needs in order to not just survive, but thrive.
Granular Fertilizer Benefits
- Slow-release application. This helps feed your lawn consistently in between crew visits.
- It is easy to prevent "burning" your lawn with too much fertilizer due to its slow release of nutrients.
Liquid Fertilizer Benefits
- Fast-release application. We take advantage of this to give your lawn a boost of nutrients right away with no delay.
- Quick, uniform application.
What You Get With Our 6-Step Fertilization Program
By enrolling in our fertilization program, you will receive 6 different visits from our crew. These visits stretch from early spring all the way into the fall season. To give your lawn the best possible care, we also include weed control treatments in our program. Below is the layout of our schedule:
Early Spring: For our first visit of the year, our crew will apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer that strengthens your grass at a cellular level. We will also apply a pre-emergent weed control treatment to prevent weeds from growing.
Early Summer: We will apply another round of a balanced, slow-release fertilizer treatment and a pre-emergent weed control treatment.
Summer: At this time, your lawn will be fighting off some hot weather. Our crew will give it a boost with a low nitrogen, slow-release, non-burning fertilizer treatment.
Early Fall: As the weather starts to cool down, your lawn will receive a fertilizer treatment focused on encouraging root development.
Fall: We will continue to encourage a healthy root system with another balanced fertilizer treatment.
Late Fall: For our last treatment of the year, our crew will prepare your lawn for the cold weather with a winterizer treatment. This will protect your grass throughout the following months and allow it to green up faster in the spring.
